Prof Nico Botha re-elected as General Secretary

The Business meeting of SAMS, this afternoon re-elected Prof Nico Botha as the General Secretary for another term of three (3) years. His strategic role in leading the society, has been acknowledged, but also the key processes for the next few years, namely the Interdisciplinary theology conference in Stellenbosch in 2009, but more importantly the Edinburgh 2010 conference.  Prof Derrick Mashau, from the North-west University and Dr Agrippa Kathidre, well- known author and lecturer at the Aucklandpark Theological Seminary as the deputy General secretaries.  The meeting however reiterated their stance on gender justice, and encouraged female scholars to actively participate.

In this respect it is also important to report that Genevieve James, lecturer at the UNISA was appointed as the new Coordinating editor of Missionalia. Klippies Kritzinger, bowed out,  but promised to support the new editorial taskteam under the leadership of James, espescially to catch-up on the outstanding editions for 2007.  Botha and James as congratulated and wished all the best for their role in leading Missiology into the next decade.
